The MSCI U.S. REIT index fell 7.6 percent as U.S. homebuilders and real estate companies' shares fell, Reuters reports. The Dow Jones U.S. Home Builders index fell 6 percent. Additionally, bonds backed by commercial real estate loans fell a second day on Wednesday as investors anticipate defaults on loans on such properties as office buildings, retail stores and hotels, the agency writes.
