Women's activists will now argue the right to equal retirement security, as many boomer women will need to save an additional $1,000 per year than her male counterpart to achieve adequate income.
Research from the National Institute on Retirement Security (NIRS) found that in 2007, full-time female workers earned about 76 percent of male wages. The Institute says women will fare better in retirement if they have additional help from three places - a pension, 401(k)-type supplemental savings accounts, and Social Security. No surprise the NIRS is lobbying policymakers to secure said vehicles.
