? Vanguard President and CEO F. William McNabb, III will succeed John J. Brennan as Chairman of the $1.3 trillion investment management company and the Vanguard funds, effective January 1, 2010. Brennan, 53, took over as CEO of Vanguard from the legendary John Bogle in 1996.

? Building the equity side of its shop, PIMCO has hired from Franklin Templeton Investments the money managers Anne Gudefin and Charles Lahr, who will be portfolio managers for global equities. Also, Neel Kashkari, who resigned in May from his post overseeing the Treasury Department's TARP program, joins PIMCO as the firm's head of new investment initiatives.
