Survey Attributes Positivity To Boomer Health

A recent survey found that while most boomers feel younger than they actually are, they're more likely to attribute that to a positive mental outlook than to specific lifestyles.

Del Webb, an adult-community builder, surveyed over 1,000 boomers about their lifestyle. Eighty percent of both groups say they feel younger than they are - older boomers especially so; they say they feel 13 years younger than their real age, while younger boomers say they feel 10 years younger.

When asked to account for this disparity in real and perceived age, "mental attitude," "happiness," and "a good sense of humor" were the most common answers for both age groups. Younger boomers also attributed their outlook to kids and family, while older boomers were more likely to say a good diet was partly responsible.

Over half of older boomers say they are more active than they were 15 years ago; 56 percent of young boomers agree. Fifty-seven percent of older boomers and 56 percent of young boomers work out regularly.
