Scott Slater, Schwab Advisor Services

Scott Slater leads Schwab Advisor Services’ national Business Consulting practice helping independent wealth and investment management businesses across the United States to build their practices and grow more effectively. In this capacity, Slater and his team assist firm principals with solutions to business and management challenges including sales culture development and implementation, marketing plan development, strategic planning and growth strategy development, improving firm productivity, organization structure, succession planning and compensation design.

Previously, Slater was managing director and head of Metavante’s Wealth Management Consulting practice and a director for national consulting firm Spectrem Group, focused on the affluent and retirement markets. Previously, he was senior vice president and general manager of American Express Personal Trust Services, leading the business through a period of rapid growth. He led several marketing departments for Norwest Bank (now Wells Fargo) and began his career in consumer products marketing with General Mills. Prior to joining Schwab, he was an independent director for the Keystone Mutual Funds. 

Slater is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and in the media and has published many reports on the affluent investor, financial advisors and financial technology. 

He earned a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College and a master’s degree from the University of Chicago.
